CEO says Gazprom has world`s largest portfolio of long-term contracts.

BUENOS AIRES, October 7 (Itar-Tass) - Russia's major producer and
exporter of natural gas, OAO Gazprom has the world's largest portfolio of
long-term contracts for supplies of natural gas, Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller
said Tuesday as he addressed the plenary session of the 24th World Gas
Conference underway here.
"A total of 3 or so trillion cubic meters of gas is to be supplied
under the agreements signed to-date and some these agreements expire only
in 2035," Miller said.
"Work under long-term contracts gives a privilege that's described by
a single short word 'stability',
The system of agreements covering decades furnishes the corporation
with a reliable and unchangeable instrument for drawing up finance for
extremely costly projects.
"It also guarantees reliability of supplies to both customers and
importers and is a crucial element of energy security," Miller
said.

By 2020, Gazprom plans
meeting 25% of the global demand for liquefied natural gas /NLG/, he said.
The corporation has won the status of a guarantor of reliable supplies
of natural gas to the European markets. As long as a large-scale
production of natural gas unfolds in the Eastern regions of Russia,
Gazprom will begin to play an increasingly more important role in the
efforts to ensure energy balances in Asia and the Pacific.
"As for our plans in the field of NLF, we hope to bring its production
to 80 million tons to 90 million tons a year," he said. "Depending on the
rates of project implementation, in other countries this may cover up to
25% global demand for this type of fuel."
Gazprom expects that its investment in the 'crisis-stricken' year 2009
will surpass the averaged annual figures for the past three years, Miller
said
Gazrpom's investment precisely meets the need for guaranteeing its
long-term obligations, he said.
"For instance, our investment program for this year stands at 761.5
billion rubles or about 25.5 billion U.S. dollars," Miller went on. "This
means we'll invest more monies during this crisis-stricken year than we
did on the average in the past three years" that have elapsed since the
previous World Gas Conference.
"The customers that have signed long-term agreements have nothing to
worry about whether or not there'll be enough investment to guarantee the
supplies of natural gas during the next economic cycle," Miller said.
Gazprom is investing in the projects significant from the angle of
view of energy security, he said adding that, apart from the upstream
production facilities and the operational pipeline system, this implies
the construction of new export corridors, like the Nord Stream and South
Stream pipeline projects.
"Gazprom will make a sizable contribution to raising the reliability
of global supplies of gas as it develops new gas provinces on the
territory of Russia - on the Yamal Peninsula, on the continental shelf of
Arctic Seas, in Eastern Siberia and the Far East," Miller said.
