Russia renders humanitarian aid to Sri Lanka.

MOSCOW, October 8 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian has rendered humanitarian aid
to Sri Lanka.
"An IL-76 plane of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies with a cargo
of humanitarian aid on board has arrived in the city of Colombo on
Thursday," ITAR-TASS learnt at the ministry's Information Department. The
plane delivered food, tents, blankets, electric power stations and
medicines for the population of the country. "The total weight of the
humanitarian cargo amounts to more than 33 tonnes," a representative of
the ministry specified.
The Russian humanitarian cargo was transferred to local authorities.
This humanitarian aid is given on the instruction of the Russian
government. Earlier, Rosreserv reported that Russia sends the humanitarian
cargo worth eight million roubles to the population of Sri Lanka suffered
as a result of the armed conflict.
