EurAsEC to adopt food security concept in December.

MINSK, October 14 (Itar-Tass) - Member-states of the Eurasian Economic Community plan to sign a food security concept in December, Belarussian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Petrishenko said on Wednesday.

"The EurAsEC is one of the most authoritative organizations on the
post-Soviet space and undoubtedly can offer resistance to the global
economic crisis," he said.
He noted that a plan of actions to ensure food security would be
created on the basis of surveys of agricultural complexes of the EurAsEC
member-states.
The chairman of the EurAsEC Interparliamentary Assembly's commission
on agricultural policy, Anatoly Vaskov, said Russia insists on protection
of its domestic car makers in the process of unification of customs duties
within the Customs Union of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan.
The head of the EurAsEC IPA commission on trade policy and
international cooperation, Igor Karpenko, said in turn that the issue of
customs duties was put under control of the customs union commission.
"The mechanism is being studied, the problem will be resolved," he
said. "It is still early to speak about duties as no package of documents
of the Customs Union has been adopted yet."
