Kyrgyz ruling parliament faction to consider PM candidature.
BISHKEK, October 21 (Itar-Tass) - The ruling parliamentary faction of the Ak-Zhol party that holds 71 of the total 90 deputy mandates will hold a meeting in Kyrgyzstan on Wednesday to discuss the candidature of Daniyar Usenov for the post of the country's prime minister.
The Ak-Zhol political
council told Itar-Tass that its leaders on Tuesday decided to recommend
Usenov for the Kyrgyz government head.
Usenov had earlier headed Bishkek mayor's office and then headed the
administration of the Kyrgyzstan head of state. The former Kyrgyz
government with Igor Chudinov in the head voluntarily resigned on October
20 at an extraordinary meeting in which President Kurmanbek Bakiyev took
part. Several hours before, the head of state announced his intention to
cardinally reform the system of the republic's administration bodies. He
proposed to establish the Institute of the president that will include the
staff of the republic's head, secretariat, the central agency for the
development of innovations and investments, the state adviser for defence,
security and law and order, as well as the state minister of foreign
affairs. He also proposed to cut the structure of the government to 14
ministries, 7 agencies and 6 services.

.EU, Asia countries invite CIS states for East-West transport coop.
VILNIUS, October 21 (Itar-Tass) - Transport ministers of European
Union and Asian countries have invited countries of the Commonwealth of
Independent States (CIS) to cooperate in the development of the East-West
transport corridor for the delivery to Europe of cargoes from China and
the Far East, it is stated in the Vilnius Declaration adopted on Tuesday
on the results of a meeting of the EU and Asian transport ministers within
the framework of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) dialogue.
The meeting participants believe it is necessary to seek assistance
from international financial organisations to the implementation of
projects for the development of transit European-Asian transport
infrastructure with special emphasis on railways and intermodal linkages
of ground transport, says the declaration. The ASEM dialogue participants
also intend to invite CIS countries located on the route of the East-West
corridor to take part in its development.
"Transport is one of the most important engines of the economy,"
Lithuanian Transport and Communications Minister Eligijus Masiulis who
hosted the forum, noted. Transport Minister of China that was Lithuania's
partner in the organisation of the transport summit, Li Shenglin, said for
his part that China is ready to actively settle the emerging problems of
European-Asian cooperation, because it is interested in the maximally free
and quick movement of cargoes on this route.

TEN-T Days 2009 intl conference to open in Naples.
ROME, October 21 (Itar-Tass) - The two-day international conference
entitled "TEN-T Days 2009: The future of Trans-European Transport
Networks: building bridges between Europe and its neighbours" is opening
in Naples on Wednesday.
This forum that gathers 47 sectoral ministers from European countries
and African states of the Mediterranean region, is organised by the
European Commission and its Vice President and Transport Commissioner
Antonio Tajani, the Italian Transport Ministry with support of Sweden that
is presiding in the EU. The meeting agenda includes issues of integration
of European transport networks with the African continent and Northern
Europe.
Russia at the conference is represented by Transport Minister Igor
Levitin who will deliver a report at a seminar devoted to the development
of trans-European transport networks in the northern and eastern
directions - tasks of efficient use of different kinds of transport and
their interaction. Levitin will also meet with his Italian colleague
Altero Matteoli.
The transport ministers of the countries participating in the
conference are expected to adopt on their work results a memorandum of
understanding establishing the mechanism of the Northern Dimension
Partnership institution in the sphere of transport and logistics.
