.Medvedev to meet businessmen to hear ant-crisis proposals.
MOSCOW, October 21 (Itar-Tass) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on
Wednesday will meet representatives of the business community. The head of
state intends to hear proposals of businesspeople on ways for the national
economy to transfer from crisis to the development stage. ]A week ago
meeting Alfa Group head Mikhail Fridman who is member of the board of
directors of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP),
Medvedev instructed the RSPP to "prepare an analysis on moving the economy
out of crisis to the development stage."
The president hopes that the report will contain "proposals of big
business." "It will be useful for me to learn how big business proposes to
implement the crisis overcoming strategy," Medvedev explained. Fridman
promised to provide "all the prognosis scenarios."
The RF head of state earlier repeatedly stated that the "development
of entrepreneurship today and also in the future is one of the main
priorities of the Russian economic policy." Medvedev promised that the
"state intends also in the future to improve the legislative base and
administrative system, to pursue a balanced tax policy and ease access to
credit resources."
The president expects from the businesspeople "the modernisation of
the economy and its diversification, creation of high technology
production facilities and cost effective agriculture," because the work of
entrepreneurs "promotes the creation of jobs, raises competitiveness of
the national products."
Medvedev also stressed that the "role of business in the crisis
situation should be not only traditional, but moral as well." "Our
business has been developing very quickly and because of this has also
acquired many additional possibilities. Now the time has come to pay the
debts, moral debts, because this crisis is a maturity test," Medvedev is
certain.

.Lavrov to discuss with Indian colleague economic cooperation.
MOSCOW, October 21 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei
Lavrov will discuss with his Indian colleague Somanahalli Mallaiah Krishna
in Moscow on Wednesday issues of the bilateral economic cooperation and
the forthcoming trilateral meetings of the foreign ministers of Russia,
India and China (RIC).
The Russian Foreign Ministry's press and information department told
Itar-Tass that the "Indian minister is in the Russian capital to attend a
meeting of the intergovernmental commission for the bilateral
trade-economic cooperation." Vice Prime Minister Sergei Sobyanin will
co-chair the meeting on behalf of Russia.
The intergovernmental cooperation commission will focus on the issue
of reissue of visas for working in India Russian specialists who fond
themselves in a difficult situation due to changes introduced by the
Indian side. They are applied to all foreigners that are currently staying
in India with business visas and envisage their replacement with visas of
another category - "for hired workers." In accordance with this rule, all
persons with business visas were told to go before October 31 to their
home country for getting in the Indian embassies of their countries of new
entry permits to the country.
According to official sources the joint commission meeting, which also
has a defence component, would conclude the deliberations that had started
with the visit of defence minister AK Antony to the country recently.
Describing the relations between India and Russia as "time-tested," which
needed to be further, strengthened and consolidated, official sources said
the inter-governmental commission will discuss the progress in the
implementation of decisions taken at the previous meetings and at the
joint working groups (JWG). In Moscow, Krishna will call on President
Dmitry Medvedev and foreign minister Sergei Lavrov. This will be his first
visit to Moscow as the external affairs minister.
Lavrov and Krishna will also discuss issues of preparations for the
RIC ministerial meeting that will be held in India on October 27 and will
be devoted to interaction on important international and regional problems.
In the view of analysts, it is especially important in the period of
economic crisis when the existing for the past 33 years financial Group of
Seven or G7 is experiencing the greatest decline. Another structure named
E7 is coming to replace it. It includes Brazil, Russia, India, China,
Turkey, Indonesia and Mexico.
"Quickly developing countries that have more modern models of economic
development have largely managed to seize the initiative in the forward
movement," believe specialists. "It is to the new markets that the
expanding flow of investments has now started to come, the internal
consumer market in these countries is also rapidly growing." "Thus the E7
is turning into a new and powerful force that will largely determine the
ways of further development of the world economy," in the view of
financial analysts.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will receive Foreign Minister S.M.
Krishna on Wednesday.
