Medvedev certain major RF-Serb plans to be fulfilled.

BELGRADE, October 21 (Itar-Tass) - Festive soiree at the Sava Centre
in Belgrade devoted to the 65th anniversary of liberation of the Serbian
capital from fascist invaders ended the celebration of this glorious date.
"We have gathered here in order to remember our joint feat, our
sacrifices and mark the 65th anniversary of liberation of Belgrade. There
are not many dates like this in the history of our city that was not once
destroyed, but not conquered," Serbian President Boris Tadic stressed
addressing his compatriots gathered in the huge hall of the Sava Centre
and President Dmitry Medvedev and members of the government representing
the Russian Federation at the festivities. "For the sake of our future we
must remember the past, our joint fight against fascism, and not forget
the history lessons," he said. "Our country rejects the threats of the use
of force in the settlement of disputes between states and nations. It also
rejects any violations of international law, violation of territorial
integrity, fundamentals of the international law and order. And for our
Kosovo and Metohija we will struggle persistently and consistently - by
peaceful, political and diplomatic means. Our antifascist heritage also
obligates us to do this," the Serbian leader stressed.
"Have no doubt: Russia will continue also in the future to take a firm
stance in international issues that we consider principal for the
development of Europe, humankind and all of us. Including on the issue of
territorial integrity of Serbia, on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija,"
Dmitry Medvedev said for his part receiving standing ovation of the
audience.
"My visit to Belgrade has strengthened confidence that our joint plans
- and there are many of them, they are serious, large, intended for
decades ahead - will be fulfilled," the Russian president stressed.
Touching upon the war events that gave the occasion for Tuesday's
celebrations Medvedev reminded the audience of the heroic feat of
Yugoslavian guerrillas, soldiers and officers of the 3rd Ukrainian Front
that fought their way through from Dnieper to Danube and who took part in
liberation of Belgrade. "During WW2 - the most sanguinary and terrible in
the history of humankind - the peoples of our countries suffered huge
irreparable losses that even now cannot be exactly calculated. We, the
children and grandchildren of the soldiers who defended for us the right
to live in a free world, must preserve the truth about this war. The more
so as today numerous attempts are made to turn this history inside out, to
distort the very essence of the events of that period and present the
invaders as rescuers, hangmen - as patriots, and the liberators - very
nearly to occupants. Such oblivion of the war lessons is very dangerous.
Speculation in these themes can instigate mistrust and animosity among
nations, which has happened not once in the history of humankind. This
threat must not be forgotten. We will make everything to prevent such a
scenario of developments," the Russian president promised.
Serbian masters of arts gave a concert on the stage of the Sava Centre
that was decorated with a poster with the words: "Belgrade Remembers
October 1944. 65 Years of Freedom."
