Lawmakers` drivers threaten strike on October 22.

MOSCOW, October 22 (Itar-Tass) - The drivers of Russian lawmakers
decided to call a strike on Thursday, October 22, in protest against a cut
in salaries from January 1, 2010, and poor labor conditions.
Lawmaker from the Communist faction Anatoly Lokot warned his
colleagues at the end of the plenary session on Wednesday that "300
drivers (of the State Duma's garage) were ready to begin a strike on
Thursday, and block the garages."
Lokot said the drivers "were pressed into signing contacts under which
their salaries would be three times as low than at present from January 1.
We risk skipping work tomorrow."
One of the employees of the Schyotspetstrans company who works with
Duma deputies, confirmed to Itar-Tass that " drivers will begin a strike
on Thursday, at 06:30."
Aside from the upcoming cut in wages, the drivers resent the delay in
the payment of part of their salary which they were due to receive on
October 7.
After hours of work, drivers have to queue for two or three hours to
wash their cars; they also complain about insufficient equipment at the
facility.
Deputy house speaker Nadezhda Gerasimova said at the end of the
Wednesday session that "the issues concerning cars and drivers have been
settled."
"Tomorrow, everything should be all right," she said citing lower
house spokesman Alexei Sigutkin.
