Tuva head leaves for Mongolia to restore interrupted ties

GORNO-ALTAISK, October 26 (Itar-Tass) -- Head of Tuva Sholban Kara-ool
intends to restore border ties with Mongolia interrupted in the years of
perestroika. On Monday, he left for Ulan-Bator to meet with Mongolian
President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorzh and First Vice Prime Minister,
co-chairman of the Mongolian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade
and Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation Norovyn Altankhoyag,
ITAR-TASS learnt at the press service of the Tuva government.
According to the press service, the republic "consistently restores
once close economic and cultural ties with neighbours. Tuva concluded a
number of agreements on cooperation with the adjacent provinces of
Mongolia - - Zavkhansky, Khubsugulsky and Ubsunursky.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev spoke about the necessity of closer
and more effective interaction with Mongolia. In August 2009, he signed
the Declaration on Development of Strategic Partnership with the newly
elected president of Mongolia.
During the Tuva head's meetings, the sides will discuss urgent issues
of long-term cooperation of the republic as a constituency of the Russia
Federation with Mongolia up to 2015. Among these issues is further
expansion of geography of cooperation with Central Mongolia, mutual
supplies of live cattle, exports and imports, improvement of the
infrastructure for developing mutual trade, as well as joint events in
industry, construction, agriculture, education, science, tourism, sport
and culture.
An agreement on trade and economic, scientific and technical
cooperation will be signed between the Mongolian Ministry of Foreign
Affairs and Trade and the government of the Republic of Tuva. An official
mission of Tuva in Mongolia is to be opened in Ulan-Bator.
The Tuva delegation is to visit enterprises of Ulan-Bator and Uliastai
and meet with the rector of the Mongolian State University and Tuva
students studying in Mongolia.
