Vietnam for expansion of coop with RF in education-SRV pres.
HANOI, October 30 (Itar-Tass) -- Vietnam comes out in favour of
expanding versatile cooperation with Russia, considering the sphere of
education and training of cadres to be one of its priority directions.
Vietnamese President Nguen Minh Chiet, as the local press reports on
Friday, said this receiving on Thursday a delegation of the St. Petersburg
State Polytechnic University (SPSPU) headed by its rector, corresponding
member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Mikhail Fyodorov.
"Vietnam will never forget huge aid rendered to it by the Soviet Union
and the Russian Federation in training highly qualified specialists who
make a considerable contribution to the country's development," the
Vietnamese head of state said in a talk with the SPSPU rector. The
Vietnamese president also supported the university's plans, which were
voiced by professor Fyodorov, to create a branch in Vietnam. "This is a
good token for the continuation and further expansion of interaction in
the field of education and training of cadres between Vietnam and Russia,"
he said.
Nguen Minh Chiet decorated the SPSPU rector with the high governmental
award of Vietnam - - Order of Friendship for a big contribution to the
cause of development of cooperation between the two countries in the
sphere of education. "This order is a token of gratitude of the Vietnamese
state and people for Your personal contribution to the development of
cooperation between our countries," the Vietnamese leader noted.
Cooperation of Russia and Vietnam in the sphere of education is over
50 years long. Over this period, more than 30,000 Vietnamese got higher
education in collages of the former USSR and Russia. With the
participation of specialists from Russia, a system of professional and
technical education was created in Vietnam, dozens of Vietnamese workers
underwent training at Russian enterprises.
