Federation Council ratifies RF-Tajikistani agreement on research centre.

MOSCOW, October 30 (Itar-Tass) -- The Federation Council, upper house
of Russia's parliament, has ratified a Russian-Tajikistani agreement on
the establishment of an International Scientific and Research Centre
Pamir-Chakaltaya.
Tajikistan ratified the document in February.

The centre was created for the atomic and astrophysical studies in the
1970s.
In the post-Soviet period, Russia and Tajikistan tried to find a
mutually acceptable solution for the disputable problem of the scientific
facility's national belonging.
As a results, the sides agree to establish the International
Scientific and Research Centre on the principles of equal shares in the
project.
The agreement was signed for 25 years. When the document expires, the
centre's property will be handed over to Tajikistan without compensations.
The agreement also determines responsibilities of the sides for the
support of the centre, including those with the drawing of third countries
and international organisations.
