APEC countries to draft common strategy of dvlpmnt in 2010.
TOKYO, November 12 (Itar-Tass) -- Heads of foreign political
departments and ministers of trade of the Asia-Pacific Economic
Cooperation Organization (APEC) have agreed to work out in 2010 a common
strategy of economic development aimed at strengthening regional
integration with the help of liberalization of trade and investments.
This
is the main content of a statement which was made public on Thursday
according to the results of a two-day meeting in Singapore.
The meeting participants noted that tension in the global economic
situation has reduced considerably of late, and confirmed that they would
continue to fight with the use of protectionist measures in foreign trade.
They expressed common striving to display "maximal flexibility" to
conclude the Doha round of talks on liberalization of world trade which
reached a deadlock.
The results of the ministerial meeting will be taken into account by
leaders of the APEC countries who will hold an informal summit on November
14-15.
