Medvedev pleased with Russian soccer team's win.

SINGAPORE, November 14 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian President Dmitry
Medvedev after the conclusion of the first working day of the APEC summit
watched the live television broadcast of the first playoff match between
the teams of Russia and Slovenia competing for the right to particiapte in
the 2010 World Championship.
Though the game started at midnight Singapore time, the president
watched it to the end together with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov,
Communications Minister Igor Shchegolev and presidential aide Arkady
Dvorkovich. Russian representatives Andrei Kostin and Vladimir Dmitriyev
to the APEC Business Advisory Council also watched the match.
Medvedev is pleased with the Russian team's win. The Russians beat the
Slovenians 2:1. The president believes the Russian sportsmen showed good
play particularly in the middle of the game. At the same time he noted the
Russian team would have to make every effort to win the other match.

.Sappers destroy shells found after arms depot fire in Ulyanovsk.

ULYANOVSK, November 14 (Itar-Tass) -- Sappers continue working in
Ulyanovsk to destroy unexploded shells found at the ammunition arsenal
site after the fire, a source at the Emergencies Ministry's Ulyanovsk
regional department told Itar-Tass on Saturday, adding that the work was
conducted by the Defence Ministry's forces.
There is no danger for the city population, the source said.
The governor's press service told Itar-Tass that a group of sappers
was working there under the Navy commander's supervision. Found unexploded
shells are destroyed right at the site. There is no threat for the
population, the press service noted.
Earlier in the day, First Deputy Defence Minister Alexander Kolmakov
said that 42 shells were found in the area around the depots within the
range of 2.5-3 kilometers.
Residents are asked to be careful and report to appropriate services
about all suspicious objects.

MOSCOW, November 15 (Itar-Tass) -- Moscow's airports continue to work
in dense fog. Aircraft captains themselves decide whether to land here or
at other airports and whether to take off.
Powerful anti-fog lights are switched on at the airfields to help
pilots, an airports operator told Itar-Tass.
On Saturday, more than ten planes could not land at the capital due to
low visibility and were diverted to other cities. Some of them landed at
Nizhny Novgorod and St. Petersburg, and some landed at other airports of
Moscow.
Meteorologists say fog may remain in Moscow and the region until
10:00, Sunday.
