Mohammed bin Rashid meets British Premier
London - Nov 24, 2009 (WAM) - Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum met yesterday at 10 Downing Street with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown who welcomed his visit to the United Kingdom at the head of a high level delegation.
During the meeting, they reviewed political and economic situations both regionally and internationally and stressed the importance of enhancing peace in the conflict regions, particularly in the Middle East, Afghanistan and other areas of the world.
Sheikh Mohammed discussed with the British Prime Minister potentials for growing cooperation between the UAE and the UK in all domains, especially in education, investment, commerce, as well as joint efforts to mitigate effects of the global economic downturn.
Brown said he was impressed with the quick recovery made by the UAE economy and the measures made by the leadership and government there that led to minimal impact of that crisis on the country's economy. He referred to the UAE leadership's wise policy and keen efforts to protect the country's investments and the foreign investments in it.
High on the meeting's agenda were the UAE investments in the UK and the role played by the UAE in this regard.
Sheikh Mohammed and Brown emphasised the importance of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of medical and peaceful nuclear technologies.
The meeting was attended by H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, H.H.
