Senior BJP MP from Jharkhand Yashwant Sinha, party's
national vice president Karuna Shukla, Chief Ministers of
BJP-ruled Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand besides Bihar Deputy
Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi were present.

Soren had resigned in January this year after he failed to
get himself elected to the Assembly in a by-poll.
His first term as chief minister was from March 2,
2005 which lasted just nine days as he failed to prove his
majority in the Assembly.
In his second innings, he spent a little over four months
from August 27, 2008.
The JMM chief had staked claim to form the government on
December 25, two days after the election results threw up a
hung assembly.
Soren now heads the government with the help of the
National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the first time.
After taking oath, Soren said his topmost priority was to
eradicate poverty and provide irrigation facilities to
farmers.
"Pet mein anaj, khet mein pani (eradication of poverty
and irrigation for farmers)," he said when asked about his
priorities.
A founder member of the JMM in 1972, Soren plunged into
Jharkhand movement before taking a temporary break when he
took over the chairmanship of the Jharkhand Area Autonomous
Council (JAAC) in the 1990s.
Soren was first elected to the Lok Sabha (Lower House of
Indian Parliament) in 1980 and subsequently in 1989, 1991 and
1996. He was elected to Rajya Sabha (Upper House of Indian
Parliament) in 2002. He became the Indian Coal Minister in the
previous Manmohan Singh government, but was asked to resign
following an arrest warrant in the Chirudih massacre case. PTI
