Omar invited to National Prayers Breakfast in US
Jammu, Jan 8 (PTI) Chief Minister of the northernmost
Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, is among the
few Indians invited to the National Prayers Breakfast hosted
by the US Congress, in which President Barak Obama may also be
present.
The invitation was handed over to Omar by Congress MP
Mohd Azharuddin last evening at his office here, an official
spokesman said here.
Organised on behalf of Fellowship Foundation, the
National Prayers Breakfast is a yearly event held in February
which is attended by some 3,500 guests including international
invitees from over 100 countries.
It is designed to be a forum for political, social and
business leaders of the world to assemble and build
relationships.
Six heads of state, along with members of European
Parliament, United Nation diplomats and political leaders from
Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America attended the event last
year. Business leaders from the US and other countries and
students were among the guests in the last National Prayers
Breakfast meet.
Among Indians who have attended the event in the past
include the country's first woman Indian Police Service (IPS)
officer Kiran Bedi and noted Christian leader John Dayal. PTI
