Pak needs to take effective steps to end infiltration: Krishna

New Delhi, Jan 8 (PTI) India Friday said it was still to
see effective steps to end infiltration and dismantle terror
infrastructure by Pakistan, which has taken some "halting
measures" after the Mumbai attack.
Emphasising that India supported a stable Pakistan at
peace with itself and the region, Indian External Affairs
Minister S M Krishna said, "We wish to address our differences
with Pakistan through dialogue" but a meaningful dialogue will
be possible only in an environment free of terrorism.
The Indian Minister said after the Mumbai attacks,
Pakistan has taken some "halting measures to address the
evidence presented to them.
"However, we are still to see Pakistan take effective
steps to end infiltration and dismantle the infrastructure of
terrorism. As the (Indian) Prime Minister has said - should
Pakistan show the statesmanship and vision to act resolutely
against terrorist, India would be willing to meet it more than
half-way."
This was informed by Krishna to the Indian diaspora,
attending 'the eighth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas' here, while
giving a perspective of country's foreign policy and its
relations with neighbours.
Talking about Sino-Indian relations, the minister said it
was "complex" but increasingly diverse both in texture and
substance.
"There are, however, important bilateral issues that
cannot be whisked away. We seek to resolve these peacefully,
through dialogue. The maintenance of peace and tranquility in
the border areas will receive close and continuing attention
in this scenario," he said. MORE PTI
