Kazakhstan intends to expand borders of transport and transit cooperation with the countries of the Eurasian space. In this regard, the Senate of the Parliament and the transport department considered an agreement on international road transport between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. Norms provide the exemption of international transport from taxes and fees associated with the use and maintenance of roads. Exceptions are toll roads and bridges. According to Kazakh Deputy Minister for Investment and Development, Roman Sklyar, the ratification of the agreement will strengthen trade and economic cooperation between the countries. Roman Sklyar also highlighted that the government is constantly working to develop the country’s transit potential. Kazakhstan intends to create the largest logistics hub in Central Asia. To date, 41 international agreements on the road transport have already been concluded. In the near future, Kazakhstan plans to sign similar agreements with Denmark and Portugal.

ROMAN SKLYAR, KAZAKH DEPUTY MINISTER FOR INVESTMENT AND DEVELOPMENT:
- We build and reconstruct roads in order to develop a business, to make sure that the movement of cars, trucks and other transport are comfortable. Our goal is to increase the volume of traffic and make it to 50%. We have such a goal now. In addition, in his address the Head of State pointed out that we should our road network put in order, not only in transit directions, this work is underway, but we also need to put the local network in order.

MARAT KUBENOV, MEMBER OF SENATE, UPPER HOUSE OF KAZAKH PARLIAMENT:
- The transport and logistics are of great importance for Kazakhstan. In comparison with previous years the freight traffic has increased by 17%. This is about 17 million tonnes. Agreements with Azerbaijan are connecting us which were adopted earlier in 1999. In 2005 this agreement lost its force, and in April of last year when Nursultan Nazarbayev visited Azerbaijan, the topic of just automobile transportation was touched upon during the working moments. It is the agreement which we considered today according to the President’s instructions.
