Mongolians celebrate their National Proclamation Day on November 26th of every year. After the people’s revolution in 1921, Mongolia declared itself as an independent country with the adoption of its first constitution on November 26, 1924. This is a historic day of the 20th century that Mongolia proclaimed itself as the People’s Republic of Mongolia. Historians consider that this constitution guaranteed the political rights of the people of Mongolia with laying foundation of future development of Mongolia. The constitution outlined the construction and scope of the State and the power of the State was vested in the State Great Khural.
In 1992, Mongolia adopted a new constitution that established a parliamentary democracy in Mongolia, guaranteeing freedom of religion, rights, travel, expression, unalienable rights, government setup, election cycle, and other matters. Mongolia updated its constitution in 1940, 1960 and 1992.
