The museum of Dundgobi aimag is exhibiting the complete pack of finds, dating back to the Bronze Age. This museum is quite distinct from other museums in the country by its important artifacts owing its origin to the Bronze Age, a highlight stage in human history, which lasted between the 3rd Millennium and the 8th Century B.C.
Bronze Age finds are mostly discovered in slab grave, stone tombs and ritual sites. The museum is one of the few museums that put together their treasuries out of collected archaeological artifacts.
The nomadic tribes, which had lived on Mongolian territory, have recovered an alloy called ‘bronze’ out of copper and tin. The bronze is considered to have penetrated the factory works since 2,000 B.C. There are nearly 800 pieces of finds of Bronze Age, including accessories depicting animals’ shapes, bronze knives, salt girths and other garments. The most unique and treasured piece that engraved with image of a wolf catching a horse has been made the symbol of this museum. The piece has been enlisted as a cultural and historic treasure by the Cultural Heritage Center.
Pieces of Dundgobi museum treasury was publicly shown in Ulaanbaatar last spring. The museum is unveiling its complete treasury in order to improve the locals’ knowledge about history. The exhibition will last until the end of this month.
