The online webinar of the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA) held on Friday has focused on new peculiarities of news production, employees’ health and safety measures taken, as well as the activities of news agencies during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
“During the pandemic, news agencies have embarked on a new format in news production. The opportunities that we often ignored have allowed us to move forward in a complex epidemiological situation,” said Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Italian ANSA agency Stefano De Alessandri at the online webinar.
Highlighting the activities of ANSA during the peak of the pandemic in Italy, Stefano De Alessandri noted that the key goal was to protect the employees from the risk of infection and maintain the dynamics of news agency’s activities.
AZERTAC Chairman of Board Aslan Aslanov, CEO of the German DPA news agency Peter Kropsch, EANA Secretary General Alexandru Giboi, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Agence France-Presse (AFP) Fabrice Fries, head of Spanish EFE news agency Gabriela Cañas, First Deputy Director General of the Russian news agency TASS Mikhail Gusman, as well as representatives of Turkey’s Anadolu Agency, Ukraine’s Ukrinform new agencies joined the webinar.
EANA was founded on August 21, 1956 in connection with a conference on new media technology held in Strasbourg. The organization, which has a significant impact on global information policy, brings together 32 European news agencies. AZERTAC, a member of EANA since 2008, is closely involved in the organization's activity.
