40 Per Cent Of Employees In Asia Pacific Will Be Mobile Workers By 2015, Says IDC
SINGAPORE, May 15 (Bernama) -- Forty per cent or 838.7 million employees in
Asia Pacific, excluding Japan, will be mobile workers by 2015, according to a
report by the International Data Corporation.
The report titled, 'Worldwide Mobile Worker Population Forecast 2011-2015'
said a majority of mobile workers would be office-based.
IDC defines office-based mobile workers as those who spend most of his or
her time in the company provided office but who also sometimes work at home or
in a third place.
IDC), a premier global provider of market intelligence, advisory services
and events, will explore in-depth what this means for companies in the
Asia/Pacific region at a one-day Asia Pacific Enterprise Mobility Conference
beginning Thursday.
The conference will provide attendees with a clear understanding of the
latest developments in mobility and how to develop a mobility strategy that best
suits their business requirements.
Tim Dillon, IDC's Associate Vice-President for Asia/Pacific End-User and
Mobility Research said, "Mobility is at its most exciting point since Martin
Cooper of Motorola made the first cellular call.
"The convergence of devices, networks and applications has changed the
expectation of 'any time, any device, anywhere'," he said in a statement Tuesday.
