Al-Shaibi: MUNTAJAT, Marketing Window to Above 120 Countries
Doha, December 23 (QNA) - MUNTAJAT Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Technical Committee which oversaw the establishment of Qatar Chemical and Petrochemical Marketing and Distribution Company (MUNTAJAT) , Abdulrahman Ahmad Al-Shaibi said that the company's strategy focuses on the provision of value added services to ensure efficient marketing and distribution channels extending to 120 countries and serving as a one-stop-shop supplying Qatar s high quality chemicals, polymers and fertilisers exports.
In his speech at the MUNTAGAT launching press conference, Al-Shaibi pointed out that through its comprehensive network, the company will be able to strengthen its relations with the major chemical and petrochemical hubs around the world and position Qatar amongst the top leading nations in the chemicals and petrochemicals fields.
MUNTAJAT s advanced structure will ensure that the sales and marketing of the chemical and petrochemical products to the global leading markets are in compliance with the EU Competition and US Anti-Trust Laws, he said.
The Technical Committee, founded by HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr. Mohamed bin Saleh Al-Sada on the 4th of August 2011, was commissioned to oversee the development and implementation of the creation of a national company that holds the exclusive rights to market and distribute chemical and petrochemical products produced in the State of Qatar. Drawing on the local and international expertise, we have conducted the necessary commercial and legal research and mapped out the feasibility studies necessary for the establishment of the company to identify the contractual challenges and the necessary solutions to overcome them, Al-Shaibi explained.
He noted that after a year and a half of thorough studies, the Technical Committee recommended to the government to establish a national company to market, sell and distribute chemicals and petrochemicals that will reinforce Qatar s position and mark it as one of the world leading giants in the field of marketing and distribution of chemicals and petrochemicals.
The Vice Chairman of MUNAJAT said that the establishment of the company will address the current gap in the marketing strategies by providing a strategic framework for the management of the national marketing operations, enabling larger business opportunities. It will also contribute to reducing tariffs on logistics and cargo operations, settling trade disputes and providing knowledge insights of the latest market developments and trends all while contributing to the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the 2011-2016 National Development Strategy, he added.
In its final report, the Technical Committee highlighted the prominent financial benefits of the company that results from the savings on the current marketing and sales expenditures. In line with Qatar s objective to optimize the use of its hydrocarbon resources, MUNTAJAT will enable the State to further benefit from its natural resources that are used in the productions of chemical and petrochemical products, said Abdulrahman Al-Shaibi.
With Qatar owning the third largest gas reserves in the world, MUNTAJAT is predisposed to become one of the world giants in the marketing and distribution of the chemicals and petrochemicals sectors, Al-Shaibi said adding that Qatar s leading economic indicators noted Qatar s total value of exports in 2011 showed an increase of 54.9 percent over 2010. The second largest export industry in Qatar after Oil & Gas is the petrochemicals and manufactured goods industry, which increased on average by 43 percent between 2010 and 2011. (QNA)
