Bali Exports US$62 Mln Worth Of Sculpture And Other Souvenir

Denpasar, Bali, Oct 28 (Antara) - Bali earned US$62 million from the export of wooden souvenirs including sculptures in the first seven months of the year. "The foreign exchange income rose 29.4 percent from US$47.8 million in the same period last year," chief spokesman of the Bali provincial administration I Ketut Teneng said here on Monday. Bali`s exports of products of fine art rose 72.33 percent in the same period in volume to 52.05 million units from 30.21 million units , Ketut Teneng said. Products of fine art contribute 21.41 percent to Bali`s total export earning of US$288.93 million in the seven months period, he said. He said villagers in the regency of Gianyar are the biggest contributors to the exports of fine art products. Wooden products of fine art are also produced by a number of villages in the regencies of Badung, Klungkung and Tabanan, although they have not succeeded in reaching export market, he said. The largest export destinations is Malaysia accounting for 52.67 percent of the exports, followed by the United States accounting for 14.61 percent. Other countries of destination include Japan, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and a number of European countries.
