Bid to boost trade in 10 special economic zones
BANGKOK, June 5 (TNA) -- Provincial commerce offices in 10 special economic zones (SEZs) promoted by the government are ordered to tightening cooperation with the chamber of commerce offices and the private sector with an objective to widening trade and investment with Thailand’s neighbouring countries, said Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn.
The order was given to support the government’s programme as well as to obtain benefit as the country is trying to become goods transportation hub in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Ms Apiradi said.
Several provincial commerce offices in the SEZs have already organised activities to achieve the government’s policy.
Kanchanaburi Provincial Commerce Office has organised a workshop aimed at strengthening cooperation between Thai and Myanmar business operators.
Meetings were held in the northeastern provinces of Mukdahan and Nakhon Phanom, in southern province of Songkhla while several other provincial commerce offices had dispatched their representatives along with members from the private sector to visit Myanmar, Malaysia and Laos. (TNA)
