Blaupunkt Confident Malaysia Can Become Major Supplier Of Car Entertainment Systems

BUKIT MERTAJAM (Penang, Malaysia), July 11 (Bernama) -- Blaupunkt, a well-known name in car entertainment systems globally, is confident the setting up of its regional distribution centre here will help Malaysia become a major supplier of the systems going forward. "The regional distribution centre in the Bukit Tengah Industrial Park was set up to give better and quality services to our customers," he told a media briefing after the opening of the new factory and distribution centre here Wednesday. Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister, Mukhriz Mahathir, officiated the ceremony. Also present was chief executive officer of Blaupunkt group, Dr Lars Placke. The factory and distribution centre, built at a cost of RM88 million (US$27.653 million), employs 350 workers, including 50 local engineers involved in research and development. Among Blaupunkt's major clients are Proton, Audi, General Motor, Ford, Bentley and Tata. -- BERNAMA
