BoT orders corrections for banking crash-affected customers
BANGKOK, Aug 31 (TNA) -- The Bank of Thailand (BoT) has ordered the management of commercial banks that were involved in Friday's morning banking service crash to solve problems for their affected customers.
BoT assistant governor Ronadol Numnonda said that the banking system crash resulted from a system breakdown of a large commercial bank due to a huge number of inter-bank transactions.
He said the backlogs delayed transactions through other banks, especially mobile banking transactions, and the BoT ordered the large bank to exit a central banking system to restore the services of other banks. The order was in compliance with a previously established procedure.
The BoT ordered banks to realize transaction requests of all affected customers.
Besides, Mr Ronadol said, the BoT ordered the problematic bank to enhance its service capacities to cope with increasing transactions. He said that most banking systems resumed. (TNA)
