BANGKOK, Aug 6 (TNA) -- The Bank of Thailand (BoT) has alerted all financial institutions to the threat of cyber terrorism after two banks were hacked. BoT governor Veerathai Santiprabhob said that he has issued a warning to all financial institutions after hackers attempted to break into Kasikorn and Krungthai banks databases last week. As a result of this Mr Veerathai said that he has called a meeting with the representatives of all commercial banks, urging them to place the highest priority in activating measures to combat cyber terrorism and safeguard client's details and told them that they were solely liable for any damages to customer's accounts. In any event, Mr Veerathai confirmed that fortunately last weeks attempted break-in had not resulted in any damages. Mr Veerathai said the attempted hacking last week was a real test of both bank's security protocols and their response. They responded well and was able to solve the problem quickly. (TNA)
