BOT:E-transactions in Thailand have been on the rise

BANGKOK, October 9 (TNA) - The Bank of Thailand (BOT) says that electronic transactions (e-transactions) in the country have been gradually increasing, especially those conducted through the Prompt-pay System, launched by the Thai Ministry of Finance early this year. BOT Governor Dr. Veerathai Santiprabhob told journalists of the update on Monday, noting that the e-transactions through the Prompt-pay System alone have already reached 130-140 billion baht so far. Dr. Veerathai revealed that the e-transactions through the official Prompt-pay System have been particularly soared during the end of each month. According to the BOT governor, people in Thailand have also increasingly resorted to other e-transactions, through QR Code, to pay for their goods and services. The BOT acknowledged, however, that people's e-transactions in Thailand annually now remain 10 times lower than those of neighboring Singapore in the ASEAN Community (AC) although the e-transactions in the country have kept rising on the gradual basis.
