British ambassador visits GPIC

Manama, Feb. 28 (BNA): British Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain Simon Martin visited the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) to have an overview of the Company’s operations and its quality of products exported to the world’s leading markets.
Company President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, members of the Executive Management and the Chairman of the GPIC Labour Union welcomed the ambassador and conveyed to him the greetings of the Chairman and the Board of Directors. He said the visit would strengthen cooperation between GPIC and British petrochemical companies. He spoke about the efficiency and professionalism of British workers in the field.
The ambassador was told about GPIC’s operations, production and exports, including a review of the Company’s achievements in the areas of safety, quality and environmental preservation areas. He was also briefed on the operation of the carbon dioxide recovery plant, the Company’s training programmes as well as the activities of the Academy of Learning and Leadership and the eLearning Centre.
He was then taken on a tour of the complex, where he saw the environmental projects, which show the harmony between industry and the environment.
He visited the Princess Sabeeka Aromatic Plants Garden and the Medicinal Herbs Garden and later planted a tree to commemorate his visit and as his contribution to support GPIC’s environmental orientation. He also visited the Charity Fish Farm and the Bird Sanctuary.
The ambassador said he was very pleased and impressed at the functioning of GPIC and termed it as an ideal model of co-operation between the GCC countries very. He described the visit as an opportunity to closely look at how GPIC safeguards the environment through environmental projects and its commitment to keep the surroundings clean and green.
He said the prospects of Bahraini and British companies co-operating in the petrochemical sector were very bright and praised the quality of GPIC products that comply with the best international standards.
He also praised the achievements of the Company in winning the highest awards in the field of occupational safety and health, including the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents Award, a certificate from the Occupational Safety and Health Institute, as well as obtaining the Enterprise Risk Management Certificate (ISO 31000) awarded by the British Standard Institute.
The ambassador thanked Dr. Jawahery and members of the Executive Management and all employees for the warm reception, their outstanding performance and dedication, which resulted in the Company's excellent and unique performance.
