CAAT proposes lower fare ceiling for budget airlines
BANGKOK, Aug 15 (TNA) - The Civil Aviation of Thailand (CAAT) concluded its study on the fare ceiling of the low-cost airlines, proposing the new rate at less than 9.40 baht per kilometer, lower than 13 baht per kilometer, approved earlier.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) finished the study on the fare ceiling of low-cost airlines as proposed by the civil aviation committee. The CAAT listened to opinions from all budget airlines and conducted the study on the ceiling rate for three months.
It concluded that the new fare ceiling rate will be 9.40 baht per kilometer at the maximum, lower than the previous approved rate at 13 baht per kilometer.
The CAAT will forward the result of the study to the committee for consideration on Aug 27.
If it is approved, the new rate will be issued in the notification of the Transport Ministry in September.
When it is put into effect, the low-cost airlines, which collect higher rate must submit the fare reduction plan to the ministry. (TNA)
