Chinese investors visit EEC for many industrial projects

PATTAYA, Aug 25 (TNA) -- The government today brought Chinese investors to the site of the Eastern Economic Corridor to survey investment potential and they are interested in logistics, transport and property development. The visit followed the government’s efforts to facilitate foreign investment, promote cooperation with neighboring countries namely Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam and develop connectivity with some Chinese provinces. Chinese investors are interested in a railway project to link Don Mueang, Suvarnabhumi and U-Tapao airports, the expansion of the Laem Chabang port, bio-agriculture, property development and an increase in Thailand-China flights from 30-40 flights to about 2,000 flights per month. Apart from the visit to the EEC site, Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak, other cabinet ministers and representatives of the Eastern Economic Corridor Policy Committee witnessed the signing of 10 agreements among representatives of the EEC, state enterprises, universities and the private sector. Mr Somkid said the agreements included collaboration on space projects, advanced agriculture, biopharmacy, food innovation, research, submarine communications cables, digital startups, Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence. Other agreements concern new industrial estates for the production of robots and electric vehicles among others, the production of personnel in relevant fields, cyber security, 5G technologies, and tourism promotion and connection between the East and the South.
