Commerce to increase community income

BANGKOK, Oct 21 (TNA) -- The Commerce Ministry has implemented several marketing strategies to achieve its goals in an attempt to reduce disparity and increase income of the community people in Thailand, said Minister Apiradi Tantraporn. One of the marketing tactics adopted by the Commerce Ministry is setting up ‘Talad Thong Chom’ or ‘Market Must Visit’ in a bid to strengthen community economy, said Ms Apiradi. The ministry has also helped developed community products by persuading the producers to sell their products directly to the consumers, she said. Presently, there are 148 ‘markets must visit’ in every region in Thailand and they have helped boosted tourism revenue in these areas as well, she said. On the establishment of ‘Magnet Market’, aimed at building connections between outstanding products with consumers and tourists, for example four markets for durian have been set up in Bangkok and three other provinces, she said. Besides that 42 ‘Farm Outlets’ are established in 24 provinces, generating more than 300 million baht to the producers, Ms Apiradi said. Markets are also set up at Thailand’s borders with neighbouring countries while the ministry persuades people from those countries to buy Thai products, she said. The ministry has also promoted organic agricultural products and persuaded organic farm producers to participate at the ‘Organic & Natural Expo 2017’ and has helped in building ‘Organic Village’ in several areas in the country, she added.
