Construction To Start For Cement Factory In Lebak

Lebak, Banten, Sept 10 (Antara) - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa will lay the corner stone on Wednesday to mark the construction a cement factory in Lebak, Banten Province. The project, which is owned by PT Gama Group, will cost around US$600 million, company spokesman Nana Suharna said here on Tuesday. The factory to be built over a 1,400 hectare plot of land in the sub-district of Bayah, will produce red white cement, Nana said. The factory will be one of the largest in the country with a production capacity of four million tons a year. In 1992, the foreign company built a red white cement factory in Vietnam with a production capacity of 4.5 million tons. The cement production of the factory in Lebak would be for domestic consumption as the country still has a deficit of 40 percent in cement supply, he said.
