Deputy PM opens Thailand Focus 2018 conference
BANGKOK, Aug 30 (TNA) -- Thailand’s geographical location and its strong capital markets are key elements of its status as a regional hub, Thai Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak says at Stock Exchange of Thailand’s forum.
Mr Somkid gave a special address in the annual inbound roadshow hosted by the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) entitled, “Thailand Focus 2018: The Future is Now” to showcase the country as one of the best investment destinations on Wednesday.
He said Thailand had spearheaded for seamless connectivity with its neighboring countries in the Mekong sub-region to link strategies for trade, investment and tourism.
Strong fundamentals of Thai economy had been at the core of SET’s strength attracting investors, he said.
In this edition of Thailand Focus, SET places emphasis on one-on-one along with small panel discussions highlighting key issues and insights into investment opportunities in Thailand.
Industry Minister Uttama Savanayana said the government had pressed ahead its megaprojects to improve its infrastructure in order to facilitate regional connectivity through various mechanisms such as East-West Economic Corridor.
About 160 high-potential listed companies had joined Thailand Focus 2018 embracing innovative features, SET president Pakorn Peetathawatchai said.
With the opportunity to learn from policymakers and prominent keynote speakers about the ongoing projects and reforms, investors could become more confident in Thailand’s capital markets.
Thailand Focus is the largest investment conference in Thailand.
It is an exclusive platform for leading global and regional institutional investors to gain knowledge about the government’s vision, mission, goals, policies, key strategies, key macro initiatives and updates of mega projects, a SET statement says. (TNA)
