EGAT to monitor flood situation in Thai south
BANGKOK, Jan 7 (TNA) -- The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) is closely monitoring the flooding situation in the Thai southern region, while preparing to mobilise officials to inspect critically affected locations.
EGAT Assistant Governor-Transmission System Operation Worapot Inthong said that the heavy downpours since January 2 have caused severe flooding in the lower part of the region, prompting EGAT to closely monitor the situation there.
He pointed out that the flood water is gradually and continuously receding and EGAT was preparing to mobilise authorities to inspect electricity poles and high voltage electricity stations at risks of being hit with landslides or flash floods.
Mr Worapot stressed that although various electricity poles and high voltage stations have been flooded, they have not been affected and are still functioning normally. (TNA)
