Financial Expert to QNA: Occasional Movement Still Characterizes QSE Performance

Doha, October 20 (QNA) - The Qatar Stock Exchange index (QSE) lost 61.130 points, or 0.48 percent at the end of trading this week, dropping to the level of 12,657 points, compared to the closing of last week. In his reading of QSE performance, the financial analyst, Ramzi Kasmieh spoke to Qatar News Agency (QNA) indicating that the general index ended its trading this week with a slight decline, bringing the week’s outcome to a decrease of 0.48 percent, which reflects the occasional movement, meaning the semi-stability that characterized its performance during the past two weeks, pointing out that the stock exchange did not react to the positive results of the listed companies disclosed so far, amounting to10 companies, which showed a total growth of about 9 percent, considering that the occasional movement reflects the waiting state of market participants, especially those related to the US Federal Reserve Board meeting in November 2022, regarding the interest rate decision and its reflection on the markets. He underlined that the investors are awaiting the activation of short selling by QSE and the commencement of the activity of lending and borrowing for securities, projecting that the results of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will emerge with respect to the companies' performance in the fourth quarter of 2022, especially in the real estate and hospitality sectors, in addition to communication & transport, goods and consumption services, pointing out that the index of the real estate companies and transport sectors rose by 1 percent this week, adding that the levels of liquidity have not risen to the average they reached since the beginning of 2022, estimated at QR 700 million, while they reached only QR 393 million in the sessions of this week. The weekly report of QSE revealed that the market value decreased by the end of the week’s trading to reach QR 703,547 billion, compared to its level last week, which amounted to QR 708.249 billion, in addition to recording the value of stock trading about QR 2.022 billion through selling 606.309 million shares, through concluding 72428 deals.
