Government To Build Solar Power Plant In Serang
Serang, Banten, Oct 23 (Antara) - The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, will build another Solar Power Plant (PLTS) in Wargasara Village, District Tirtayasa, Serang, Banten.
"The plan to build the Solar Power Plant was submitted because there are about 320 families that has not been able to enjoy electricity in the past decades in these villages," said Head of Renewable Energy at the Energy Division of the Serang Marine Fisheries Department of Energy and Mineral Resources Iwan Hermawan here on Wednesday.
Plans for the Solar Power Plant follows the building of two 15 kilowatt (kw) capacity solar power plants in Pulo Panjang village, Pulo Ampel sub-district, as a pilot project, he said.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will build a 15 kw solar power plant in Wargasara village, Iwan added.
The new 15 kilowatt solar power plant is to provide power to 320 homes in the village.
Tirtayasa sub district head Mas Elan Afandi said that he is welcoming the construction of the new solar power plant through the Energy and Minerals Resources Ministry.
"We are very grateful, indeed, considering that the residents in the village have not had the use of electricity for a long time," he said.
Elan also said they would support and contribute to the implementation of the power plant project.
"Surely the local government and the local community will support the smooth operation of the project," he said.
