Government is preparing to welcome Chinese business delegation
BANGKOK, Aug 20 (TNA) -- The government is preparing to welcome 40 major Chinese investors who are to arrive in Thailand to look into investment avenues in 11 Chinese provinces located along the planned Thai-Chinese rail route network.
Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak said today that Thailand was preparing to host the 6th Thailand-China Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation (JC) between August 23-24 at the Government House.
The Chinese delegation is part of the 300 leading business people that will take part in the Thailand-Chinese Forum 2018 organized by the Board of Investment (BoI) to promote bilateral trade.
After the forum, a visit to the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) is planned for August 25 to allow Chinese investors to get the first hand experiences over the potential of investing in the EEC project. Among the 300 are 40 from the top 50 highest ranked Chinese companies.
The government is eager to seek out mutual investments in basic infrastructure projects, agriculture, science, technology and innovation, tourism, finance, digital industries and manpower development and will be focusing on strategic bilateral economic partnership under the Chinese government's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
This will in turn promote further investments with Thailand's closest neighbors within the Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS).
Chinese interest will help the government achieve its Thailand 4.0 plan through major investments in the EEC and the government will also be eager to discuss fundamental developments in Regional Comprehensive Partnership (RCEP) agreements with the Chinese government.
Later in October Thailand will welcome a business delegation from Japan. (TNA)
