GPIC sponsors BIGS2016

Manama, Feb. 21 (BNA): The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) has once again announced its sponsorship of the Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS2016), to be held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad and the support of His Majesty’s wife Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa also President of the Supreme Council for Women and Chairperson of the Advisory Board of the National Initiative for the Development of the Agricultural Sector, the show organisers.
In a statement, GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery thanked Her Royal Highness on her support for the outstanding annual show, which displays several varieties of local agriculture and the Bahraini plants and contributes to enhancing awareness of the importance of agriculture for organizations, individuals and society in general.
National Initiative for the Development of the Agricultural Sector Secretary-General Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa thanked Dr. Jawahery for his support and stressed it is not unusual for this company, which is today one of the event’s key partners. She expressed admiration for the attention the company gives to the environment, which has been translated through the projects and initiatives it has implemented within its complex. She praised the company’s efforts through its programmes, implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education.
The GPIC attaches great importance to preserving the environment and makes it a point to comply with environmental regulations. It has shown great application in such applications, which reflects its excellent reputation in this regard.
The GPIC’s safety and environmental orientations translate across different programmes which show that the company is not only keen to protect the environment but also in maintaining the health and safety of employees and the areas surrounding the industrial complex.
The GPIC is also an integral part of society and contributes to serve the community in several ways, whether environmental, charitable or humanitarian. It has initiated the establishment of several environmental projects, including a charity fish farm and a Bird Sanctuary, which includes flamingos and other migratory birds who spend most days of the year in the shallow coasts and feed on small crustaceans.
In other initiatives, the company has established a plants and medicinal herbs garden, which reflects the company's eagerness to preserve plants, trees and herbs with food and medical benefits.
