Honda Aims At Monthly Sales Of 2,000 New Honda City

KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 (Bernama) -- Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Honda Malaysia), the sole distributor of Honda vehicles in the country, aims to sell 2,000 units of the New Honda City model monthly by end of this year. Managing director/chief executive officer Yoichiro Ueno said the target was based on the sales performance of the previous model which sold almost 2,000 units per month before the interruption due to the floods in Thailand. "We are quite confident on the success of the model due to its attractive design and augmented safety features as well as the local requirement," he told reporters after launching the model here Wednesday. He said the car was the first completely knocked-down model from Honda Malaysia after the resumption of its factory production in April. Among improved features of the new model are new front grille, new front and rear bumper and lights as well as new interior design and integrated audio system. The transmission system was enhanced and is combined with the new drive-by-wire technology. The new model comes in five colours -- sparkling brown metallic, alabaster silver metallic, polished metal metallic and crystal black pearl -- and its on-the-road price is RM85,980 (US$27,047.57) for the grade S variant and RM90,980 (US$28,619.35) for the grade E variant. Meanwhile, for the Modulo accessories-equipped model, the on-the-road price is RM88,930 (US$27,962.65) for the grade S variant and RM93,930 (US$29,532.32) for the grade E variant. At the launch, Honda Malaysia also introduced new services package which offers a 5-year warranty with unlimited mileage for customers who maintain their vehicle according to schedule and six times free labour service of up to 100,000 kilometers. As at April, Honda Malaysia has sold 113,005 units of its Honda City model since its launch in 2001. (photoBERNAMA) MALAYSIA
