Hong Kong - Chiang Rai direct flight inaugurated

CHIANG RAI, Nov 26 (TNA) -- The first direct flight from Hong Kong arrived in Thailand’s northernmost Chiang Rai province on Friday as part of the province's attempt to boost tourism from Hong Kong people. Visiting tourists received a special welcoming ceremony at the airport with a performance of local folk dance and jasmine garland. They were welcomed by Deputy Governor Boonvej Sripuengjai and Director of Mae Fah Luang Airport Lertchai Wangtrakuldee. Included in the 180 seats Airbus A320 HK Express flight were members of media, tourism operators, and tourists. This direct flight will be operated twice a week on Mondays and Fridays. Tourism Authority of Thailand in Chiang Rai believes this direct flight will help boost tourism as this time is a high season in Chiang Rai and also hopes that the number of Hong Kong visitors in Chiang Rai would increase.
