India's exports up 6.7 pc in Dec, 25.8 pc in Apl-Dec

New Delhi, Jan 16 (PTI) India's Exports grew by 6.7 per cent year-on-year to USD 25 billion in December 2011, Commerce Secretary Rahul Khullar said today. Imports, too, increased by 19.8 per cent to USD 37.8 billion in the month, leaving a trade deficit of USD 12.8 billion for the month. During the April-December period of fiscal 2011-12, merchandise shipment grew by 25.8 per cent to USD 217.6 billion. Imports during the first three quarters of the current fiscal were also up by 30.4 per cent to USD 350.9 billion, leaving a trade deficit of USD 133.3 billion during the period. Khullar was optimistic that India would touch USD 300 billion in exports by end of the fiscal (March 31, 2012). PTI
