Indonesian Govt And Inpex Discuss Energy Coop
Jakarta, Sept 18 (Antara) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono received Toshiaki Kitamura, Chief Executive Officer and President of INPEX Corporation, at his office on Wednesday to discuss energy cooperation, said a minister.
"The CEO and president of INPEX threw light on energy projects in Indonesia that are pending and have been completed," explained Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik after accompanying the president to receive Kitamura.
INPEX is an international oil and gas exploration and production company, which is currently involved in more than 70 projects in 29 countries and listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Wacik noted that IMPEX has 10 energy blocks in Indonesia, with two major blocks being Mahakam block and Masela block.
"INPEX has so far invested US$21 billion in Indonesia," said the energy minister, adding that during the meeting with President Yudhoyono, Kitamura extended a number of proposals concerning energy cooperation at the blocks, whose contracts are about to expire.
"We are evaluating the proposals to understand what is best for the nation," added the minister.
He explained that President Yudhoyono wants to invest in energy projects that yield great profits for Indonesians.
Meanwhile, Kitamura threw light on INPEX�s commitment to Abadi LNG project and its latest development in Indonesia.
He said INPEX is developing Abadi LNG gas field as "Green Field Project," with LNG floating technology.
