Iran steel productions up 10 percent
TEHRAN,Dec. 10 (MNA)— A new official report said Iran increased its production of crude steel and steel products considerably during the first eight of the current Iranian year (started March 21).
Iranian deputy Industry, Mine and Trade Minister Khodamorad Ahmadi said on Friday that Iran’s crude steel production has reached 9.044 million tons during the mentioned period, which is 10.6 percent more that the production of same period of last year.
The CEO of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) added that the country’s production of steel products have been increased 5.1 percent in the past eight months in comparison to the same period of last year.
Iran has produced around 11 million tons of steel products in the first eight of the current Iranian year, Ahmadi further said.
Indicating to the steel output of private sector, he announced that the private sector has produced 3.263 million tons of steel products, which is 11 percent more than the corresponding span of last year.
According to the World Steel Association (WSA), Iran was the second leading steel producer in the Middle East in 2010 after Turkey.
