Iran-Uruguay Joint Economic Commission To Meet Soon

Tehran, Feb 29, IRNA – Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said on Tuesday that Iran-Uruguay joint economic commission meeting is to be held in the near future. According to the Information and Press Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Salehi made the remarks in a meeting with his Uruguayan counterpart Luis Almagro in Geneva where the two sides reviewed issues of mutual interests. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the UN human rights meeting in Geneva. The Islamic Republic of Iran attaches imporance to expansion of relations with Latin American states, Uruguay in particular, Salehi said. The Uruguayan foreign minister, for his part, called for expansion of political, economic and cultural relations between the two countries and urged implementation of the previous agreement sighed by the two countries' officials. Terming the two sides' relations as very positive, he said holding Iran-Uruguay joint economic commission meeting will be of prime importance for both sides, he said. He also called for promotion of all-out relations between the two countries./end
