Jakarta Governor Asked To Make Decision On Monorail Project
Jakarta, Dec 27 (ANTARA) - Minister for State Enterprises Dahlan Iskan asks Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to make a decision on the Jakarta`s monorail project despite threat of state construction company PT Adhi Karya to withdraw.
"Jokowi should act independently. The threat by Adhi Karya should not affect his decision," Dahlan said here on Thursday.
Adhi Karya has said it refused to cooperate with PT Jakarta Monorail, which was earlier awarded the project, over differences in development concepts in and disagreement in share split.
Disagreement between Adhi Karya and Jakarta Monorail has delayed further the implementation of the project.
Implementation of the project, vital to help cope with notorious traffic congestion in the city, was already delayed for five years.
Dahlan said Adhi Karya has told the governor it preferred to team up with other state companies or it could handle the project alone.
He said Adhi Karya claimed it could build the project with lower cost.
Both Adhi Karya and Jakarta Monorail have submitted separate proposal .
Adhi Karya submitted its proposal representing a consortium of a number of state companies including telecommunication company PT Telkom, Bank Mandiri, toll road developer PT Jasa Marga and railway industrial company PT INKA.
