Kupang Administration Keen on Cooperating with China
Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara, June 17 (Antara) -- The administration of Kupang city in East Nusa Tenggara province is open to establishing cooperation with the Chinese government and investors in the infrastructure sector to improve the community's welfare.
"If Chinese investors plan to cooperate in the infrastructure sector in Kupang, the administration will warmly welcome it," Mayor of Kupang Jonas Salean said here on Wednesday.
He added that the administration responded to the plan of CHU Yanli, the senior consulate for international relations of Fujian province, China, to establish cooperation with East Nusa Tenggara and Kupang in the form of a sister province or sister city.
According to Salean, the administration of Kupang is open to cooperation between countries and with cities from other countries as long as it has positive results and takes public interest into account, particularly that of the East Nusa Tenggara community.
"As Kupang needs infrastructure development, cooperation is necessary to realize the program," the mayor pointed out.
The administration of Kupang, Salean added, needs a model of international cooperation that could serve as a reference to form ties with China.
"We need time to study the cooperation pattern to modify it to suit local conditions," he explained.
Moreover, Head of the Investment Coordinating Board of East Nusa Tenggara Semuel Rebo stated that the administration welcomes Chinese investors to work in the archipelagic province.
According to Rebo, investors interested in cooperating with the East Nusa Tenggara administration should visit the province to explore its various potentials.
By directly observing all potentials and listening to remarks of the administration, they will be able to determine better which field they would want to invest in.
