MAHA Expects to Seal US$63 Million Contracts

PUTRAJAYA, July 17 (Bernama) -- The International Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Exhibition (MAHA) 2012 set for Nov 23 to Dec 2 is expected to seal contracts worth RM200 million (about US$63 million). Agriculture and Agrobased Industry Minister Noh Omar said he is confident that the expo would clinch RM30 million (US$9.5 million) in sales compared to RM23 million (US$7.2 million) previously. "What is important is that besides getting sale contracts for our products, we can become agents for foreign companies," he told a media conference after the pre-launch of MAHA 2012 here Monday. Noh said the exhibition, to be held at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (Maeps), will provide a platform for the local business community to expand markets for their products at the international level. He said he expects more than three million visitors to the exhibition this year. Participants from 30 countries are expected to take part in the expo, including from Afghanistan, Vietnam, Singapore, South Korea, India, Qatar and Sri Lanka. --BERNAMA
