Malaysia Central Bank to Host Third Global Islamic Finance Forum
KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Central Bank (BNM) will host the
third Global Islamic Finance Forum (GIFF), beginning Sept 18, to discuss and
exchange views on the growth and opportunities in the internationalisation of
Islamic finance and strengthening cross border economic interlinkages.
The GIFF 2012 is a high-level multi-track event that brings together
regulators, scholars and financial industry players who are key drivers in the
global development of Islamic finance.
The event is organised in collaboration with the Securities Commission,
Malaysia, Bursa Malaysia, the Association of Islamic Banking Institutions
Malaysia, Malaysian Takaful Association and the International Shari’ah Research
Academy for Islamic Finance.
The main coordinator for the event is the Islamic Banking and Finance
Institute Malaysia, said the central bank in a statement.
Several multi-track events would be held concurrently with GIFF 2012 which,
among others, will include the Global Islamic Liquidity Management Conference,
Islamic Microfinance and Financial Inclusion Forum, Bridging Economies Forum,
Global Islamic Finance Taxation Forum and a SME (Small Medium Enterprise)
Workshop on Leveraging on Islamic Financing Opportunities, it said.
Senior officials from regulatory agencies, statutory bodies, government
agencies, Islamic and conventional financial institutions, financial market
players and professional services in Malaysia and abroad can participate in the
event, which is by invitation, by registering on the GIFF 2012 website.
Registrants accepted for the programme will be notified by email by the
organisers.
