Malaysian Timber Council Promotes Global Woodmart In New Delhi

By M.Saraswathi NEW DELHI (India), June 6 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Timber Council (MTC) promoted the upcoming MTC Global Woodmart 2012 Exhibition here to further boost the export of Malaysian timber and timber-based products to India. The three-day exhibition would be held in Kuala Lumpur beginning Oct 4. MTC said the first MTC Global Woodmart 2010 attracted 106 exhibitors from 19 countries and more than 2,000 trade visitors from 49 countries. "There is good response for the MTC Global Woodmart 2012, which is going to be much bigger than the one held in 2010 and there will also be a Sarawak Pavilion," said MTC in a statement. The exhibition will serve as a good platform for producers, importers, exporters, manufacturers, distributors and agents of wood products to network and secure business opportunities. The value of major timber and timber products imported by India from Malaysia amounted to US$472.65 million (RM1.503 billion) in 2011. India is Malaysia's third largest timber trading partner after Japan and the United States. (US$1 = RM3.17) -- BERNAMA
